April Beth Marshall is a poet whose work celebrates queer joy and personal empowerment with the kind of electric honesty that makes you laugh, cry, and maybe text your ex. A former stand-up comic, professional wrestler, actress, and writer, she brings a lifetime of reinvention to every line she delivers. You might’ve even seen her once as a stripper on Jerry Springer—yes, seriously.

About Me And My Writing:

Hi, I’m April Beth — poet, writer, occasional chaos machine, and professional overthinker.

I started this site because I needed a place to put all the words that wouldn’t leave me alone. You know the ones — the late-night thoughts, the 3AM heartbreaks, the weird little moments you think only you notice, like the way grief smells like hospital hallways or how hope sometimes feels like duct tape holding everything together.

Writing has always been how I survive the noise — how I make sense of the world, or at least throw my hands up and laugh at it. I’m not here to pretend I’ve got it all figured out. (Spoiler: I don’t.) I’m just here to tell the truth as best I can, in poems and stories that are sometimes messy, sometimes stubbornly hopeful, and sometimes a little bit funny in that “if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry” kind of way.

What you’ll find here:

  • Poems about love, loss, survival, and that weird space in between
  • Stories that accidentally get too personal and then just lean into it
  • Occasional bursts of humor, sarcasm, and highly questionable life advice
  • A lot of honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable
  • A quiet little corner where it’s okay to feel things (even the ugly ones)

I’m not trying to be anyone’s guru. I’m just someone who believes that words have a way of reaching across the gaps — between strangers, between lonely moments, between the past and the future — and saying, “Hey. Me too.”

“Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it.”
Vincent Van Gogh

Thanks for being here. Seriously. It means more than you probably know. I hope you find something here that makes you feel a little more seen, a little less alone, or at the very least, something that makes you snort-laugh at an inappropriate moment.

Stay messy. Stay curious. Stay stubbornly kind. — April Beth
